Q & A

Q: Do I need to be good at drawing or watercolor before taking this course?

A: Not at all! This course is designed for all levels, from total beginners to experienced artists looking to try travel painting. We will focus on how to enjoy and feel confident travel painting no matter what level your skills are at.

Q: What supplies do I need for the course?

A: I’ll walk you through everything in the first lesson, but you’ll only need a few basics: a small watercolor set, a regular brush or water pen brush, a travel-friendly sketchbook, and maybe a water cup. I keep it lightweight so it’s easy to pack for any trip!

Q: Do I have to paint on location, or can I work from photos?

A: You can absolutely do both! I’ll show you how to paint on-site if you have the time and space, and how to use your travel photos to paint later—either in your hotel room or once you’re back home.

Q: I’m traveling with family/friends who won’t want to stop for painting—will this still work for me?

A: That is a common reason we neglect painting during a trip, but this course will help! I include tips for fitting in quick painting sessions during downtime, so you can paint without missing out on other activities. Plus, we'll discuss how to take and use photos to capture moments and paint them later.

Q: Will this course help me improve my watercolor skills in general?

A: You’ll learn overarching ideas and skills, such as simplification, that you can apply to any subject—at home or on the go. There is no step-by-step tutorial on a specific subject; instead, you will learn how to apply skills you already know to painting on the go.

Q: How long will I have access to the course?

A: Once you enroll, you get lifetime access to all the videos and materials. That means you can revisit lessons before every trip, or work through them at your own pace.

Q: Can I take this course if I’m not traveling soon?

A: Absolutely! You can practice with scenes from your local area or use your own travel photos. It’s a great way to prepare so you’ll feel confident when your next trip comes around.

Q: I don’t have a lot of time—will I actually be able to fit this in?

A: Yes! Travel painting doesn’t have to take hours. In the course, I share quick-painting strategies you can do in 10–15 minutes. You’ll be amazed at how much you can capture in just a few minutes!

Q: I’m not artistic—will I still be able to do this?

A: 100%! You don’t have to consider yourself an “artist” to enjoy travel painting. One of the exciting things you'll learn is the benefit of painting even when it "fails" or doesn't look like you want. The focus is on enjoying the process, not creating perfect paintings!

Q: What if I'm not satisfied with this course once I've purchased it? Can I get a refund?

A: As soon as you purchase access to this course, you can watch, read, and download all the included resources. Because of that, I cannot offer a refund. If you have any questions before you purchase, feel free to email me at [email protected], and I'll be happy to help!
